Most Bible Scholars and commentators believe that Psalm 61 was written just after David was forced off his throne and is running in the wilderness from his son Absolom. It was written by a man betrayed by his own family, manipulated and lied to by his own son! This passage is David's heart during a time intense persecution and high emotion.
