My Relationship to Authority

Submission… One of the most difficult things we will ever do as people is surrender control to another. And yet, this is exactly what God is calling us to do! Submit our lives to Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior. As we open up Romans 13 today, Paul is teaching us, submitting to Christ’s leadership is also to submit to government authority. Maybe we wonder how Paul could tell us to do such a thing… Doesn’t he know how wicked our government is these days?! BUT… Paul is giving this instruction during a time when the roman government and emperor were so wicked that they would slaughter Christians for fun. And yet, his instruction remains… “Everyone must submit to governing authorities, because authority comes from God.” May we open our hearts to what the Lord is teaching us this morning!
